First Southern National Bank

Simple Saving with Round-Up Savings

The time of change jars filled with the end of the day spare change is a rarity. In fact, I hardly ever use cash and rarely find myself with change at all! I know I am not alone in that. According to a recent Federal Reserve poll, more than 66% of transactions are paid using a debit card.

Most people also don’t associate debit cards with saving money, and the majority of Americans aren’t natural savers. Thankfully, First Southern National Bank’s Round-Up Savings uses technology to make saving easy. This free account option give me an easy, and reliable method to save money with every purchase I make.

Round-Up Savings calculates a scenario similar to what would happen if you had made purchases with cash and put your change in a jar at the end of the day. For example, if I stopped at a local bakery and purchased a muffin for $1.25, the account would round up to $2.00, and $.75 would be transferred to my savings account. If I went out for lunch with friends, and spent $23.45, the account would round up to $24.00 and transfer 55 cents from my checking account to my savings. At the end of the day, my “savings jar” or Statement Savings account would have $1.30 in it.

This feature is great for anyone who wants an easy way to start saving with minimal effort and even less planning. Just set up the service and start saving. It’s that easy!
