Jess Correll Inducted into Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame

STANFORD, KY – First Southern National Bank Founder and Chairman Jess Correll was inducted into the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame at a ceremony November 14th at the Griffin Gate Marriot Resort & Spa in Lexington, Kentucky.

“We are so thankful for and proud to know Jess Correll,” says First Southern National Bank Corporate Spokesperson Suzanne Short. “His humble spirit and generosity continue to impact many people on a daily basis. Working for the First Southern Family of Companies isn’t just going to work every day, it’s spending each day with family.”

The Entrepreneur Hall of Fame is a physical and virtual destination that shares and celebrates the stories of Kentucky's most successful entrepreneurs. Their mission is to raise awareness of the impact that entrepreneurship has made in the Commonwealth and to encourage others to pursue similar ambitious endeavors.

Correll was joined by Don Ball, Sr. of Ball Homes (posthumous award), Joe Craft of Alliance Resource Partners, L.P., and Jim Headlee of Summit Energy Services in the 2018 class.

Correll has a passion for giving, which led to the establishment of The River Foundation, a private foundation that gives to Christ-centered organizations, both locally and throughout the world. Jess serves as President and Chairman of the Board for this Foundation.

Jess is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UTG, an insurance company headquartered in Stanford, Kentucky. He is on the boards of Friends of the Good Samaritans, National Christian Foundation and the Centre College Board of Trustees. Jess is also a deacon at Grace Presbyterian Church.

Jess is a seventh generation Kentuckian and lives on a farm in Central Kentucky where he practices sustainable farming in partnership with his son. He is co-owner of the Bluebird, a farm-to-table restaurant in Stanford and along with his wife, has won several awards for historic preservation efforts in the historic town of Stanford.

A native of Somerset, Kentucky, Jess attended Asbury College. He is married to Angela Crouch Correll and they have three children and five grandchildren.
